A long night ahead...

“There is an elephant in the room” is one of my favorite expressions.

I made a quick face lift on this blog last week. As the election is several days away, the change is made to express my endorsement of McCain. This is of course not new. I am a conservative in principles (more: why I am a conservative?), and a Republican by wealth

If When McCain wins this election, he will confirm a theory I have about the world. I believe that the world is ran by a secret group of powerful men. They pick out who is going to be the president of, say the U.S. If that person does his job well, he gets elected. If not, he is replaced by someone else. Given all the chaos and irrationalities in the world, I would feel better knowing there is a “higher power” up there to make sure things won’t get out of hands (like Kim Jong Ill woke up one day and said “hum, let nuke the neighbor”).

Let talk about Obama. The man isn’t a candidate, he is a hot chick.

Here is what I meant. Let say your best buddy starts dating a girl. And hypothetically, let also assume she is a stripper with top of the line implants. Blinded by her beauty, your friend will overlook everything else. She could have herpes, it won’t matter. He will let her get away with everything, until he is left broken and broke – infected with STDs, sleeping in your couch, borrowing your money to live by, etc..

I am not saying Obama has herpes. I am just saying when it comes to the media, Obama is exactly the impenetrable force that every hot chicks has. It doesn’t matter what you say, or do to convince his fan otherwise – he is still “hot”.

The bottom line is if you found out your girlfriend, who happened to be Emma Watson – did coke, was an orgy addicted and does not take shower everyday – would you care ?

I think I am becoming an owl, as I’ve been staying up a great deal lately. And look like I am going to spend another night keeping an eye on the currencies, especially the Yen. As the Fed cut its target rate today 50bps, almost everything is rallying. Nikkei is up 817 points, FTSE 100 is up 316 points.

For the past few weeks, I’ve spent a lot of days and nights trading and learning how to trade. One time, it was 3 days, and 2 nights with total 5 hours sleep. I’d get a full 8 hours rest, then stay up a couple more nights. My physical has been taking huge hits. I try to work out three times a week. No doctor would say spending endless hour in a excess-cafeinated condition will lead to longer life span. Add the stress of losing your own money, you will get a recipe for health failure. Currently, I am doing so-so mentally and working to improve my physical part, slowly – of course.

It's quite true what philosophy says, that life must be understood backwards.  But one then forgets the other principle, that it must be lived forwards.  A principle which, the more one thinks it through, precisely leads to the conclusion that life in time can never be properly understood, just because no moment can acquire the complete stillness needed to orient oneself backward.

think of when you drive a car. We should keep an eye on the wheel, and eliminate distraction; check the rear-view mirror from time to time but not to the point of fixation; keep our speed in line with our underlying goal of “arriving on time” with little regard for the pace of others; and we should make effort to see the big picture, enjoy the landscape.

And maybe, we could travel well if we attempt to drive on a road that is a bit less traveled?

Have you ever thought about killing yourself so you can go to hell, work there for years to get a promotion. By the time other people die, you’ll be in a position to torture their souls for getting on your nerves?

While I wait for my pizza...and women you can trust

Pizza Hut told me it is going keep me wait for 45 minutes so I think it is time for another round of personal self-indulgence.

I tempted to start this post with a phrase that appeared with increasing frequency on this blog, “it has been a while”, but that would bore the readers, no? Occasionally, I still get asked “you haven’t blogged much lately”, and my excuse is always “I am busy”. If you have ever used the I-am-busy as an excuse before, you know it is a lie to dust off questions. The truth is statistically I tend to write a blog after I have done some significant work.

Like today. I did laundry and cleaned my room.

Last week, a friend woke me up in the morning just to say she wanted to thank me because in some mysterious ways, I helped her get back on her feet, found love and about to get married. Now I come to think about that, it begins a series of thoughts.

I think one of the reasons people get married is to have a someone to witness their life. We all have this inner, narcissistic desire to be known and acknowledged. It would be nice to have someone to look at you everyday, take your pictures, clean up after you, etc….The key is however, to pick the right witness.

Finding a right witness is hard because no one knows what they want. Our contemporary society has led us to think that we have multiple choices and options. The question we often ask ourselves is not “is this person the right one for me?” but “what if there is someone better out there?”.

At this point, my brain wanders off into another question. “How do I know if someone is right?”, and “how can I trust a person?”. To be completely safe, you probably shouldn’t trust any woman but I don’t think it is the kind of answer you are expecting. Hence, to conclude this post, here is a list of women that you should avoid

• Women who like romantic novels. You will never be enough for her. I’ve seen men tried, and I have seen men died. You could be Bill Gates, Brad Pitts combined, she will still think she deserves someone better than you. Their notions of love, relationship and men are derived from the delusions some lonely writers cook up in his basement. You will be compared with men who do not exist. Think about that for a while and let it sinks in your head.
• Women with long finger nails: When I see a woman with long finger nails, I immediately conclude she doesn’t work with her hand. Enough said.
• Women who are into stuffed animals. If you want a princess who does not have royal blood, then this is it. Apart from the fact that they tend to be shallow and dumb, a problem with this kind of chicks is that they will expected to be spoiled by you. There will never be enough flowers, gifts and jewelries. Get on with one of these, and you will spend the duration of your relationship (right up to the divorce/break-up) giving her emotional comfort (she doesn’t need) and listening to her whine about every little aspects in her life.
• Women who are fat. I am sorry if this sounds mean. Don’t believe a word about how happy they are with themselves. They are not and anyone who has T.V knows it. The bottom line is if they don’t care enough about themselves, how do you expect them to give a crap about you.
• Women who claim to be a feminist. I don’t want to get into how this movement has made our world a worsen place but I don’t want to be with someone who wants to prove to me that she is as good as me at driving a car. It is annoying. They are basically insecure.
