There is a snowstorm passing through Boston. I am sitting at my computer, drinking my morning coffee and watching the first snowfall of the season through my windows. The weather is cold and the ground is covered white with ice on the road. It is a good day to be at home.
I was in downtown Boston last night to pick up some items for my trip home. I remember seeing a poor woman sleeping next ed to heated grates on the sidewalk. There was another bearded middle aged man taking a nap under blankets and newspapers near front doors of an office building. People passed through and looked other way so that they don't have to acknowledge them. Many will say they are there for a reason. We can say that they are in these demised states because of drugs, drinking, smoking, gambling, laziness, women.. but time like these makes one think hard about one's life and realizes how blessed one is to have a shelter. For one, I just order a pizza delivery. It should be here in about 30 minutes. Or another, when I spend hours in front of a mirror, just staring and wondering “how can you not believe in a supreme being, if “this” was created?”
"Yes Man" was a good movie. It was recommended to me by someone who is used to give me command. For that reason, when I turned on the TV the other day and found Jim Carrey talking to a corpse - usually known as Larry King, I sat down and watched. When Larry asked Carrey if he believed in fate, Carrey summarized his belief in a thoughtful answer "everything happens to you is just the greatest thing that could ever happened to you...Mugged in an alley, hit with a brick in the face". And I was...."is he high" !
Carrey is a smart guy. He made "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" - a movie I actually like very much. I think he meant differently, but his relativistic belief annoys me a great amount. He should apply this 'everything ever happened to you is great' philosophy to the people he loves. Perhaps, hitting Jenny McCarthy, his girlfriend, with a brick in the face could be the greatest thing that ever happens to hern
.
My point is to demonstrate how stupid moral relativism - where good things and bad things are exactly the same - is. In Carry's universe, I assume 9/11 is the greatest thing that ever happen to the people in the twin building.
In the news, liberal fanatics is cheering with joy over the shoes-throwing incident at a press conference in Iraq. A journalist successfully threw both of his shoes at president Bush in rapid-fire style. One thing that is not mentioned in every report around the globe is the way things were before the US came to Iraq. The only reason that idiot could hurl the shoes at the president of the US is because of the freedom granted to him by the US and thousands of soldiers who fought to guarantee such freedom and liberty. The fact that he is still breathing says it all. Imagine what would happened if he had done that to Saddam Hussein. Not only him, but probably his family will be rounded up, tortured, hang, raped,.... There would likely be a "public display of affection execution" from the leader, just to display a point.
Vietnam won over Singapore today, btw. :)
Enjoy the holiday, friends !

bian, get a cat, or best….get a blind guy. This is one of the few things that can not be resolved through communication or marriage therapy.
